TALLAHASSEE, FL - Attorney General Bill McCollum today released the following statement regarding the gang-related deaths in Palm Beach County:
“My deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who were killed last night in a devastating instance of gang violence. Their deaths are a tragic illustration of what has become a very real and dangerous threat to our state.
“These senseless acts of violence took place just hours after I met with national, state, and local leaders to address the growing threat of gang violence. Unfortunately, Florida has seen more growth in gang violence in the past 25 years than any other state in the nation. It is time we take action.
“As Florida’s Attorney General I am committed to developing a statewide strategy bringing together our law enforcement agencies, school officials, community leaders, and other groups of vested individuals to work together to protect Floridians from the threat of gangs and the violence they bring to our communities.”
