Attorney General Bondi and Hillsborough County Sheriff Gee's Office Announce Gang Arrests

TAMPA, Fla.—Attorney General Pam Bondi, along with Colonel Donna Lusczynski of Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee’s Office and Captain Jerry Stwan of the Plant City Police Department, today announced that 10 members of the “Norte 14” gang are in custody following a 10-month investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Plant City Police Department, and Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution. They are accused of committing violent crimes such as aggravated battery, robbery, aggravated assault and homicide. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division began work on the operation in August of last year. The investigation was named Operation Red Dawn.

“These members of Norte 14 were based in Plant City and terrorized residents in Hillsborough and Polk counties,” stated Attorney General Bondi. “Operation Red Dawn is an excellent example of how a strong collaboration among law enforcement officers and my Office of Statewide Prosecution can help end gang violence in Florida.”

The defendants will each face charges of racketeering and conspiracy to engage in racketeering for their alleged organized crime activity. They will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution.
