Printer FriendlyAttorney General: One Gang Fugitive in Custody, Second Still Sought
TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that one of the gang fugitives recently featured on the Attorney General's Most Wanted list has been apprehended, but a second fugitive is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Luis Gelpi, a Central Florida member of the Latin Kings gang, was taken into custody in Pennsylvania this week and will be extradited back to Florida. Jesus Ravelo is still a fugitive and is wanted on charges of criminal racketeering.
Last week, a multi-agency investigation resulted in the arrest of seven other gang members on racketeering charges; three incarcerated gang members were also charged. Ravelo is being actively sought by several law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
The gang members arrested were part of the Central Florida organization of the Latin Kings, a violent gang associated with heavy narcotics dealings throughout Brevard, Orange, Osceola, and Polk counties. Those charged will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office of Statewide Prosecution.
